Project overview
What we built

Learn, then prove it

"It went fine" is the most common answer a parent gets to "how was school." PebbleYard replaces the guesswork with a record: a child reads a short lesson, then takes a timed quiz or spelling test on it, across topics from maths and English to geometry, space, and the Australian Curriculum's geography and history strands.

Every attempt is marked on our server and saved to their record - so a parent, or a teacher, can see exactly what was attempted, what landed, and what needs another pass, instead of taking a child's word for it.

It serves two audiences from one product: families running learning at home, and schools - kindergartens through to Year 6 - running it as part of the curriculum.

Our solution & strategy
How we approached it

Private by default, curriculum-aligned by design

We built privacy in at the foundation rather than bolting it on: children use aliases instead of real names, leaderboards are opt-in and public only if a family chooses, and there are no ads and nothing to buy inside the app. Kids never create their own account or hold a password.

For schools, we sequenced 742 topics from Foundation to Year 6 to the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0, and added white-label branding and class management through join codes and printable QR cards, so a school can roll it out to a class in minutes, not a term.

Design principle

Show, don't tell. Parents and teachers get proof of what happened, not a summary a child self-reports - and every dollar the family pays buys learning, not ads or in-app purchases.

The outcome
Where it stands

A record that families and schools both trust

PebbleYard is live for families at $1/week billed yearly with a seven-day, no-card free trial, and for schools on a per-student basis with volume discounts - one product, sequenced to the curriculum, that turns "how was school" into an answer you can actually see.

If you have a product that needs to earn trust from both a parent and a school at once, let's talk about how we'd build it.
